Matt M 93 TT
From Dynamic Racing
Matt Monett’s Pearl White 1993 RT/TT Stealth
When Matt first purchased this car, it was completely Bone Stock. A trip to the El Paso, TX track (~4800 ft. elevation) netted a best pass of ~14.3 at 92 MPH. Not bad for a totally stock car, at a track where stock C5’s run mid to high 14’s.
First on the modification list was:
- Blitz DSBC and a
- Stillen Air Intake.
This netted a consistent 13.3’s at 100 MPH at the same track.
The first trip to the El Paso track with those first modifications pitted Matt up against a modified (headers, exhaust, DRM chip, air intake, ported intake manifold, and drag radials) 1992 ZR-1 Corvette. The supposed “King of the Hill” -- went down hard on numerous back to back passes. The Stealth emerged the victor, each and every time. The best pass for the ZR-1 was a 13.5 at 109 MPH. Needless to say, Matt was impressed, and the ZR-1 owner was shocked. When told what mods were on the Stealth, the ZR-1 owner could not believe it. A valuable lesson was learned by the ZR-1 owner that day, power is worthless unless you can put it down to the track.
From this point, the die was cast, and Matt, a long time drag racer was extremely impressed by the performance of this platform.
The next modifications added were:
- Underdrive pulley,
- 13G turbos
- Denso fuel pump
- G-Force ECU upgrade.
This level of modifications gave Matt a best of 12.64 at ~108 MPH (~4800 ft. elevation).
Now it was time to address the exhaust system. Matt added:
- ATR downpipe
- ATR Cat back exhaust.
This netted a new best (very lean on fuel) time of 12.23 at ~110 MPH with a badly slipping clutch.
The next mods were:
- 550cc injectors
- ARC-2 (the second unit ever installed on a 3000GT/Stealth)
- Alcohol injection kit
- Mueller twin disk clutch
These mods brought performance to a whole new level, with an 11.74 at 120 MPH. All runs on the silver car were performed on a full weight street car. Running on 91 octane pump gas, and RE71 Potenza street tires.
Its worth noting, that from literally hundreds and hundreds of passes made in this car and countless street launches, not a single part was ever broken on the car. Many clutches had to be replaced, but alot of testing was done to find the best clutch combination as well.
This car is currently undergoing massive modifications, that we hope will net times in the 9’s. Please stay tuned for info as it becomes available...
